Steviepinhead is the board or screen name of longtime Mountaineer leader/instructor/committee member Steve Russell.
Stevie has led and instructed for the Seattle Scramble, Snowshoe, and Navigation committees and has also instructed for the Intermediate and Basic Climbing courses. He is a Scramble and Basic grad and an Intermediate student, as well as a graduate of various specialized seminars.
He has had a role in drafting the Seattle Branch Governing Document and the Clubwide Scrambling Standards. He has served as Seattle ASC chair (1999-2002), on the ASC leadership committee, and on the Field Trips subcommittee (including as chair and assistant chair) and has coordinated and led the Snow, Experience, and Navigation field trips (the latter both under the ASC and Navigation committees). He was one of the founding members of the Navigation Working Group and Navigation Committee.
Stevie has been named Scramble Leader of the Year.
Stevie was a co-moderator of the Scramble forum on this board's predecessor (xsorbit) board.
Stevie works as a defense trial lawyer and, in his ample spare time, in addition to mountaineering, Stevie runs, bikes, hikes, backpacks, skis, draws, paints, carves, and plays guitar. In the past he has jumped horses and fenced with swords. He is a student of Native American art and culture, particularly of the Northwest Coast and the prehistoric Southeast.
