The Mountaineers Forums web site went off-line unexpectedly around 1pm today. We opened a technical support request ticket with
WebSecureStores.com, our hosting provider, and they replied and confirmed that
there was a problem with their database servers following a Windows Update installation but would not provide any more detail. Some time after 7pm, the site came back on-line.
There has not been any data loss and the web site now appears to be functioning normally. The WebSecureStores hosting service has been reliable until this recent incident. It is hoped that this is a one-time fluke. If it turns out not to be, we can migrate the site to another hosting provider. The site runs on ASP.NET, SQL Server and Community Server all of which are highly portable and widely supported.
