Took off Dec 26th with Dale Hegg and Mark Lemon for a road trip to Bozeman MT. Goal was to check out Hyalite Canyon water ice. First day went to Genesis area where we ran into Tom Lewis and Jiri. Traded war stories and had a good day out. Hooked up
with them for more BS and dinner later that evening. After calling our forum lame, Tom suggested being part of the solution or part of the problem. I confessed to being a lurker but am out of the closet. Thanks Tom. Day 2 Climbed the Mummy Cooler and,
the Scepter. Day 3 We drove to Livingston hoping to climb in the Pine Creek area. Windrifted snow blocked our access so went back to Hyalite Canyon and climbed on No Name Wall and finished up on the Elevator. We had heard that access to Hyalite
canyon can be sketchy, but it was OK if you had 4wd. We had chains and a tow strap also. Ice was generally good, although depending on the aspect it could be wet and drippy later in the day. It took 11 hrs drive time from Tacoma. Stopped at Mountain
Gear in Spokane to check out their sale. Great trip, would definitely recommend it. Next step is to figure out how to post some pix.
