As a roadtrip warmup, Jiri and I headed out to climb Skookum Falls on Christmas Eve. We drove out toward Crystal and parked at the pull-out across from the falls. There we met Wayne and Chris gearing up as well. Since there are a number of distinct waterfalls and they were heading to the central flow, all was good. We hiked across the river and up to the base. The route looked pretty good. We climbed the right side of the left hand flow in four pitches.
The first pitch started off steep, then leveled out a bit for 55 m to a tree belay on the right. The steep ice was much better, as the lower angle ice was infused with snow.

Jiri lead pitch 2 including one steep bulge to another tree belay on the right.
The trees didn't look too far away from there, so I tried running it out. I didn't make it to the top, but there was a reasonable belay at exactly 60m.

Jiri took the garbage pitch to the top.
Three raps and one semi-successful river crossing later, we were back at the car.
It's your lead. Chop, chop.
