    TR: Lillooet Ice - Jan 5-6, 2008

Tom Ryan and I headed up to Lillooet, BC last weekend and did some productive ice climbing depsite rainy melty conditions in the town of Lillooet itself.

    DAY #1 – Saturday Jan 5th

We intended to climb "Synchronocity" (WI 4, 6p) but when
we got to the river crossing the log thats been there for years was gone
so we were SOL and decided to head up the road and do laps on "Carl's Berg" (WI 5).

Here's a view of "Carl's Berg" on final approach

Me leading the normal center line which in the current fat conditions is WI 4/4+

I also lead a right and left variation as indicated on the photo below.

Me leading the right side variation
I nicknamed it "Cascading Crystal Kaleidoscope" and it felt like solid WI 5

Me leading a stiff direct start to left side variation. I nicknamed it
"Metal to the Petal" due to the numerous petal like overhanging
formations one can hook. It felt like WI 5 to me.

Higher on the lead one encounters numerous small cauliflower overhangs

    DAY #2 – Sunday Jan 6th

"Icy BC" (WI 5, 3p) in Marble Canyon as seen from the road

Tom preps to lead "Icy BC" pitch #1 (WI 3/3+ in present conditions)

Tom starts his lead up the "Icy BC"

Me starting a lead up "The Deeping Wall" (WI 5)

Me high on the "The Deeping Wall"

Another climber leading "The Deeping Wall"
