The weekend before Memorial Weekend, I led a group of eight "Mountaineers at UW" on a backpacking trip. Everyone had a great time and learned a lot.
Ancient Lakes is SW of Quincy and is a neat bunch of potholes among the coulees. Despite being in the desert, there are wetlands with abundant birds. From the trailhead at Ancient Lake Road, no permit/pass is needed.

Looking at those falls, you probably should have also cross posted this to climbing beta. Don't even tell me that you weren't checking out the WI potential of some of those lines.

Great photos. I've never been backpacking in eastern washington. Looks like a nice relaxing trip.
