    Cashmere Mountain

While climbing Colchuck earlier, I got a nice look at Cashmere Mountain to the north - looked like a fun peak to climb.

On 5/29, got a nice early heading up Eightmile trail (didn't Eminem live off 8 Mile?), then took a right on Trout Lake trail.  Encountered consistent snow at +5.3K and continued onto Lake Caroline.  From Caroline, went cross country until a snow free southern ridge was reached, then worked towards the west side of Cashmere.  The north face of Cashmere was still covered with snow.  The line selected for the traverse got quickly bogged down in deep soft snow.  Plan B - headed higher up until more rock was reached, then continued to traverse - as did the difficulty of the traverse.  The summit ended up being at the eastern side of the ridge.  The 360 deg views were fantastic!  There is even a nice bivy spot for those inclined to continue to enjoy the million dollar view - and enjoy the company of 10,000 ladybugs.  The descent was quick and efficient.  Bumper to bumper was +12 hours - and didn't encounter another person the whole day.
